I’ve always been passionate about health and fitness, and tried and loved many sports growing up, so it was an easy choice to take the Human Kinetics undergraduate program at St. Francis Xavier University. From there I got to see a side of sports that had always intrigued me, and began taking courses on sport nutrition and athletic injuries.
After finishing my Kinetics degree, I completed the post-grad athletic therapy program at Mount Royal University in Calgary, AB and became a Certified Athletic Therapist. I worked with many teams during my time in Calgary and now back on the east coast, and really love being in the action of traveling with a team and the game-day experience. It has taught me so much more about how nutrition can be used to improve performance in a very critical and unique way with each sport.
My background in sports medicine and direct work with athletes only fueled the fire to pursue sport nutrition as a career. I came back to St. FX for one final year and obtained my BSc. Human Nutrition, and went on to complete the dietetic internship and become a Professional Dietitian (Nova Scotia designation for ‘Registered Dietitian’) candidate. I have never been one to stop learning, and have also completed my NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification and the Dietitians of Canada sport supplement course to improve my practice and better tailor services to my clientele. Since my undergraduate degrees, I’ve done countless presentations and programs for athletes and coaches on sport nutrition, and to the general public on nutrition for health and wellness. When people started reaching out to me for nutrition services, I knew it was time to take the leap and create the business I always wanted to start.
Everyone can benefit from a healthy diet, and sometimes its just knowing where to get started. Food as fuel is the most influential factor in performance, as we’ve all often heard, “you can’t out-train a bad diet”. Each person requires a unique nutrition strategy to achieve his or her goals, whatever they may be, and I am here to help you get there in a manageable and personable way. I’m excited to start collaborating with ProEdge and look forward to working with their clients!
